Retirement Year One
When I decided to retire my co-workers all had the same question. What will you do? So many asked this question that I began to question myself. What ARE you going to do?? I'm going to paint the kitchen, was the answer that I began to give the people who asked. Well I did paint the kitchen, actually I hired someone else to paint the kitchen and then the living room , the dining room and that lead to new carpeting etc. All the while I was learning how to be "retired". Over this past year I have learned that I love waking up when I wake up, that's without an alarm clock. I love leisurely mornings . I volunteer at my church's food pantry. I tutored children at a women's shelter. When my youngest grandson decided to be born a month and a half early I was available to stay with his year and a half year old brother. I got a Nook as a retirement gift and I have taken it everywhere on the cruise,(you know that you can buy books at sea) beach and backyard. I have time to cook, which is different from rushing home so I can fix something for dinner. I made homemade tomato sauce, made from tomatoes that I planted. I have enjoyed this year and look forward to the next.
